The scheme allowed employers from small and medium-sized businesses with less than 250 employees to apply for a rebate, compensating them for statutory sick pay (SSP) paid to employees for any medical reason related to Covid-19. Under the new regulations, employers will not be able to reclaim SSP from 30 September 2021 and any claims relating to periods prior that that must be filed by 31 December 2021.
