The Chancellor froze the thresholds to a number of personal taxes and cut the threshold for the additional rate of income tax. The Dividend Allowance was reduced as was the capital gains tax exemption. Mr Hunt also made changes to the Energy Price Guarantee and extended the windfall tax on the profits of oil and gas companies. The Chancellor made significant changes to taxation and public spending. So, what exactly did the Chancellor say and, more importantly, what did it actually mean? A summary of this year’s Autumn Statement is now available – click here to download this booklet in full. In our booklet, we provide an outline of the main areas of taxation covered in the Statement. We have also included our observations on the more important changes, together with any planning points that may arise.
