Brexit Transition: Moving goods from Great Britain to Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Protocol came into force on 1 January 2021 when the UK left the EU, altering the way businesses move goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Under the new rules there are five key actions you must take when moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland:

1. Register for the Trader Support Service
2. Get an EORI number
3. Check Commodity Codes
4. Check whether the UK Trader Scheme could help.
5. Check goods regulations.

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has released a tool to support British businesses when moving goods into Northern Ireland. The tool provides detailed information on the five key action points and offers additional guidance and support for businesses surrounding this matter.
