The 100 strong team from Wright Vigar spent a morning at the Lawns to discuss practical ideas for promoting and encouraging team well-being in the work place. Promotion of well-being can help alleviate the impact of stress and make positive working environments where people can thrive. A number of the team achieve great personal satisfaction by using their paid ‘Charity Days’ to work with local organisations to tackle the issue of poverty and homelessness, and following a conversation with YMCA Lincolnshire, Wright Vigar incorporated a collection of not only ‘essential’ toiletries that individuals need, but also ‘self-esteem lifters’. It is a proven fact that one of main ways to support individuals with low self-esteem is to encourage self-care. What we would probably deem as an essential item are actually a bit of a luxury to those who are rough sleeping or in supported accommodation and these items can really make a difference to their well-being. Wright Vigar asked team members to ‘repatriate’ items from ‘that drawer’ that most of us have which is home to all those items that were either bought on a whim, received free in a sample size or as an unwanted gift. With this initiative proving to be a huge success at the team day, Jo Richardson, Associate Director and former Chair of Business Women’s Link approached the members of the BWL network to replicate this idea to again support YMCA Lincolnshire. BWL used their legendary Summer Luncheon as a platform to promote this initiative and see it work on a bigger scale to make a bigger impact. As a result of everyone’s efforts YMCA Lincolnshire were delighted with the support this initiative, from Wright Vigar, received in helping to restore dignity back to the lives of those in need.
