HMRC to close VAT registration helpline

Agents and taxpayers only have five days to prepare after HMRC revealed today that the VAT registration helpline would be shut down as of Monday, 22 May.

The VAT registration helpline will no longer be available starting on Monday, 22 May, and HMRC is advising taxpayers to use the “Where’s my reply” online tool in its place.

Due to the change, those who submit a request may have to wait up to 40 working days for a reply.
